This route is a cross-country crossing route designed by the author personally, which starts from Kaduojuewo in Shenshan, goes to the geographical landmark of Kariqu in the source of the Yellow River, and then reaches Qumalai through Qiuzhi Township. There is no navigation and no track in the middle section, and it is completely difficult to travel according to the rut marks on the satellite map. It is suitable for experienced cross-country enthusiasts to team up.

The whole journey of Erlang Mountain on National Highway 318 is about 27 kilometers, and the Luding side goes up the mountain to pass about 17 kilometers. Because the tunnel was abandoned after it was opened, it was in disrepair for a long time and was seriously damaged. The road surface was covered with gravel and potholes, and some sections were blocked by landslides and falling rocks. The whole car could not pass, so it could only pass by foot or bicycle. The road conditions on the mountain side of Luding are slightly better. Although there are many landslides, they will be temporarily leveled and repaired, but the overall road conditions are still harsh and steep, which is suitable for intermediate cross-country enthusiasts to experience.

Zeer Mountain is a self-driving secret in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It is convenient and close to travel from Anshunchang Town, and maintains the original alpine natural landscape along the route. After leaving the main road, the township road is a clay washboard road, and after going up the mountain, it is a gravel soil road, with many and urgent bends, which is extremely difficult in rainy season. The camping conditions on the mountain are poor, so you can go back and forth to Anshunchang Town on the same day to get good accommodation and rest.

Xishangou cross-country venue is located in Xishangou Village, yongningzhen, Yanqing County, Beijing. It is a comprehensive cross-country venue and a crazy punching place for cross-country enthusiasts. The site is located on the hill of Xishangou Village, which is divided into small circle lines and large circle lines. The whole road is not paved with ups and downs, and the cross-country difficulty ranges from primary to complex. The whole off-road field is a sunken field, and the pavement structure is mainly loess and gravel, with a large number of bullet pits, cross shafts and A slopes. It is more difficult to drive in rainy and snowy weather.

Ali midline has always been one of the ultimate routes in the eyes of cross-country self-driving enthusiasts, and it is also a secret place for self-driving. It runs through the core area of Xizang Plateau, and most areas along the way are no man’s land, with many plateau lakes and the most typical scenery of Xizang Plateau. The middle line of Ali has a long unpaved section, most of which are gravel soil roads and rutted roads, as well as extremely bumpy gravel artillery pit sections and dirt roads that will become extremely muddy in rainy season. At present, asphalt roads are being paved in individual sections, and there will be paved sections near the general county seat.

There are many bends, narrow roads and steep slopes in unpaved sections, and the gravel pits in Yakou section are serious. In 1939, in order to transport the aid materials from Yunnan and Myanmar to Chongqing, Lexi Highway was built as a strategic deployment of the Anti-Japanese War. At the end of 1941, the 525-kilometer-long Lexi Highway was officially completed and opened to traffic.

Off-road precautions
- After leaving Huangmu Town, we will go to Jinkouhe District. There is no supply in the whole journey, so we should refuel in advance.
- Lexi Highway Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall is located on the side of National Highway 245 in Ebian County, and it is highly recommended to visit. The historical materials and pictures taken in this paper come from Lexi Highway Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall.
- The unpaved road is narrow, so please don’t stop at will in case of rain and fog.
- The temperature at Kuyiling Pass is extremely low, so prepare warm clothes. There is more gravel on unpaved pavement, so vehicles with low chassis should be cautious.
Lingjiu Mountain is located in Lushan County, Sichuan Province, with dense forest and beautiful scenery. It is an undeveloped mountain forest. At present, the uphill route is unpaved, and the difficulty is different in different seasons. In summer, there is much rain, and the ground is slippery and covered with potholes. Snow and ice roads are especially difficult to walk in winter. Under normal circumstances, the difficulty lies in the last two kilometers, steep and narrow gravel pavement, so it is recommended to try a short wheelbase four-wheel drive off-road vehicle.

Off-road precautions
- Only short-wheelbase four-wheel drive off-road vehicles are recommended, and the whole road surface is extremely narrow, so it is extremely difficult to get off the bus normally.
- Slightly larger self-driving vehicles still choose to park on the flat side in advance, and it will be much better to hike up the mountain, because the parking area under the steps of Lingjiu Palace is very narrow and it is impossible to turn around.
- Don’t enter the Dayanxia River in flood season, and pay attention to safety.
Bawang Mountain is located at the junction of Xiaojin County and Lixian County in Aba Prefecture. It is the boundary mountain between the two counties and belongs to Qionglai Mountain range. Chengdu, a four-hour drive away, is a little-known secret place of snow-capped mountains around National Highway 317, with short routes and rich landscapes. Forests, snow-capped mountains, streams, Haizi and waterfalls can be seen along the way. From Menggu Village in Lixian County to Haizi at the foot of Bawang Mountain, it is more than ten kilometers of unpaved road, which takes about 1 hour by car and snows for about 2 hours in winter, which is suitable for junior cross-country enthusiasts to cross.

Yalong Glacier entrance is located at the junction of National Highway 318 and National Highway 219, which belongs to one of the three major marine glaciers in the world and a part of the Laigu Glacier Group. Because it is located on the side of two national highways, it is convenient to travel to Yalong Glacier. Only the last 20 kilometers are newly developed unpaved Panshan Road, most of which are cliff sections. It is narrow and steep, with a steep slope and slow driving, which requires four-wheel drive vehicles and high driving skills. The driving time of unpaved roads is about one hour.

It is suitable for junior cross-country enthusiasts to experience crossing in summer and autumn, and snow chains are needed in winter. Novices or bicycles are not recommended.
