After the adjustment of several bus lanes in Beijing to "working days" and the opening of the first batch of optimization adjustments, the overall traffic efficiency has improved.
CCTV News:On September 1st, the second batch of optimization and adjustment measures for Beijing bus lanes were officially implemented. Today (September 2nd) is the first weekend after optimization and adjustment. The reporter conducted a field visit to see how the bus lanes open to social vehicles are efficient.
At 8 o’clock in the morning, the reporter saw on the main road of Deshengmenwai Street in Beijing that in the direction of entering the city from north to south, the auxiliary signs and ground markings of "6: 00 to 20: 00 on weekdays" have been added to the outermost bus lane, which means that social vehicles can drive in bus lanes today. During the filming, the reporter found that some drivers may not be familiar with the new regulations. Except for vehicles on the main road, most social vehicles still choose to drive in the inner two lanes, and the relative traffic volume of bus lanes is still small.

The traffic control department suggested that according to the new regulations, since September 1st, except BRT1, BRT2, BRT3 BRT operation roads and buses-only roads, bus lanes outside the Third Ring Road have been adjusted to "working days", and public holidays and legal holidays are not allowed. The bus lanes extending from Beijing-Tibet Expressway, Jingkai Expressway and Fushi Road to the Second Ring Road will be adjusted to "working days" at the same time, which is consistent with that outside the Third Ring Road. At present, the commonly used navigation software of mobile phones has been updated according to the new regulations, and unfamiliar drivers can follow the real-time navigation guide when driving and drive in bus lanes where social vehicles are allowed to pass.
Zhang Lei, Director of Order Department of Beijing Public Security Traffic Management Bureau:Remind the general public that when driving into the released bus lane and entering the bus lane, they must pay attention to the traffic signs and ground traffic text markings and drive according to the signs and markings. When crossing the entrance and exit of a bus lane, or entering a bus lane borrowing area, attention should be paid to avoiding buses that run normally.
Cancel the bus lane on the main road of Beijing Second Ring Road

In addition, this optimization adjustment also canceled the bus lane of the main road of Beijing Second Ring Road. According to the traffic control department, there are 14 bus lanes cancelled in the Second Ring Road, of which 9 are more than 100 meters away and the other 5 are only about 50 meters away. While canceling the bus lane, the traffic control department uniformly marked 24 bus stops to ensure the unified setting of bus stops on the second ring road. The reporter saw in the south of Xizhimen Bridge in Beijing’s West Second Ring Road that the original outer bus lane markings had been cleared.
Zhang Lei, Director of Order Department of Beijing Public Security Traffic Management Bureau:This adjustment is to prevent social vehicles from merging at one point in order to get out of the way, which can disperse the merging. At the same time, if social vehicles are smooth on the main road of the Second Ring Road, the overall traffic efficiency of the Second Ring Road will be improved.
News link: overall improvement of traffic efficiency after the first batch of optimization and adjustment
On June 1st this year, the traffic control department of Beijing introduced the first batch of optimization and adjustment measures for bus lanes, including the opening of 11 road lanes on public holidays and statutory holidays, the optimization of the opening time of 4 lanes, and the use of bus lanes by approved commuter buses and school buses. According to the traffic control department, since the implementation of the first batch of optimization measures, the traffic efficiency of related roads has generally improved.

According to the first batch of optimization and adjustment measures implemented on June 1, the main road of Beijing Third Ring Road and 10 roads starting from the Third Ring Road, a total of 11 bus lanes on the roads, are allowed for social vehicles to pass on public holidays and legal holidays. On the basis that the original buses, airport buses and other vehicles can pass through the bus lanes, approved unit commuter buses and school buses have been added, and bus lanes can also be used as required. In addition, the traffic control department also optimized and adjusted the opening time of four bus lanes.
Lin Zhiyong, Order Department of Traffic Management Bureau of Beijing Public Security Bureau:The opening time of some bus sections is inconsistent. In order to further improve the traffic efficiency, we have made a unified adjustment to the transit time, which is also convenient for social vehicles to master the transit time when borrowing bus lanes. In some periods, we have compressed it. For example, the bus lane setting of Fushi Route has been changed to 6 am to 8 pm.
According to the monitoring of the traffic control department, since the implementation of the first batch of optimization and adjustment measures in Beijing for three months, the public traffic efficiency has generally improved on public holidays and statutory holidays in the morning and evening peak hours, and the bus operation speed has slightly decreased, which has not affected the line operation.
Zhang Lei, Director of Order Department of Beijing Public Security Traffic Management Bureau:Judging from the effect of the first batch of bus lanes optimized and adjusted on June 1, the traffic efficiency in the morning peak hours has been significantly improved, and the peak rate of social improvement has increased by 20%.
