Shanxi: Drug screening system should be established in posts with great responsibility for public safety.

Recently, the 19th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress of Shanxi Province passed the Anti-drug Regulations of Shanxi Province. It stipulates that posts that bear great responsibility for public safety should establish a drug screening system and organize regular testing.

According to the person in charge of Shanxi Provincial People’s Congress, the current Anti-drug Regulations of Shanxi Province have played a very important role in regulating anti-drug law enforcement activities and cracking down on drug-related crimes for 20 years, and achieved good social effects. However, in the face of the new situation, new characteristics and new problems in the current drug control work, many provisions can no longer adapt to the development of the times. Revising the regulations is a timely response to the current practical needs of drug control work.

According to the new regulations, posts that bear great responsibility for public safety should establish a drug screening system, organize regular testing, and if any post staff member is found to have drug abuse, he should be transferred and reported to the public security organ. In view of the problem of caffeine consumption by key groups such as coal mines, mines, cart drivers and construction workers in Shanxi Province, the new regulations stipulate that administrative departments in charge of transportation, emergency management, housing and urban and rural construction should carry out targeted anti-drug publicity and education for employees in freight transport, passenger transport, taxis, mines and construction sites.

The newly revised regulations will come into effect on October 1 this year. (CCTV reporter Han Shouyi)
