Burst! It’s not a dream to send a courier by rocket? Taobao joined hands with this company to explore the experiment.
Express delivery will be delivered by rocket soon! Can you imagine what it is?
On March 31st, Beijing Jianyuan Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Jianyuan Technology" for short) plans to jointly launch a new mode exploration experiment of using reusable rocket technology to transport express parcels with Taobao, a national e-commerce platform.
Jianyuan Technology said that if the project goes smoothly, it is expected to achieve "hourly delivery" of Taobao Express on a global scale after placing an order in Taobao in the future.
According to Jianyuan Technology, at present, the "Jianyuan Taobao Hours Laboratory" is in full swing to carry out preparations for the rocket freight test. Through this cooperation, it will not only bring new development opportunities to the traditional logistics industry, but also help accelerate the development of China’s commercial aerospace industry.
Jianyuan Technology said that if the project goes smoothly, it is expected to achieve "hourly delivery" of Taobao Express on a global scale after placing an order in Taobao in the future.
However, it should be noted that objectively speaking, it is not easy to achieve the goal in a short time with the existing technology and ability. But this is bound to be a great and meaningful long-term exploration.
It is understood that the exploration of this rocket express is based on the "Yuanxing No.1" medium and large stainless steel reusable liquid launch vehicle independently developed by Jianyuan Technology. The rocket is made of stainless steel, and adopts industrialized manufacturing technology and innovative marine recycling technology, which effectively reduces the development risk and shortens the development cycle to meet the growing demand for large-capacity rockets in space infrastructure construction.
In 2023, Jianyuan Technology completed the static ignition test and recovery test of the full-scale verification rocket Yuanxingzhe-1 at sea, achieving a major breakthrough in the recovery technology of medium and large stainless steel liquid rockets at sea in China. The company plans to carry out the first flight test of splash recovery at sea in the near future, and at the same time carry out the first test of rocket delivery by express delivery, which will indicate that the realization of "land express delivery" of rockets in China has been technically feasible.
Will the rocket express delivery have a limited cargo volume?
At present, the first section of the "Yuanxingzhe-1" verification rocket that has been put into production has set up a rocket express cargo cabin with a volume of 120 cubic meters and a carrying capacity of 10 tons. The diameter of the arrow is 4.2 meters, which can not only transport a large number of "small and medium-sized" express delivery, but also transport large goods such as ordinary cars and minivans.
Jianyuan Technology said that in the future, the company will adhere to the concept of "new technology and hard technology, rapid iteration of new products, and strong cooperation with new businesses", and is willing to go hand in hand with all forces that support and participate in the development of China’s space industry to help build a space power and work together to achieve a space dream.
Everyone in Taobao is familiar with it. What is the origin of Arrow Yuan Technology, which pushes the rocket to send express delivery with Taobao?
Founded in 2019, Jianyuan Technology is the first private enterprise in China to adopt the scheme of "stainless steel arrow body+liquid oxygen methane" to develop recyclable and fully reusable medium and large launch vehicles.
According to the information of Tianyancha, the actual controller and chairman of Jianyuan Technology is Wei Yi.
Wei Yi once said that the main bottleneck of China’s commercial aerospace industry at present lies in the immature rocket industry chain. He believes that at present, the production and launch of domestic commercial rockets are relatively small. The same type of rocket must launch more than 10 rounds a year, so that rockets can be mass-produced and commercial aerospace can have a large-scale effect.
At present, from the perspective of private rocket enterprises, SpaceX’s "starship" anchored "stainless steel+liquid oxygen methane" technical route is the best solution to realize civilian and flight space transportation on a global scale.
Arrow Science and Technology, on the other hand, is aiming at the direction of the most advanced technical route. Under the existing space launch management system, it builds a series of "Walker" launch vehicles with the most efficient innovation mode to support the sharp increase in the demand for rocket transport capacity by the national space infrastructure, and at the same time serve the markets of point-to-point transportation, space tourism, space station construction and deep space exploration.
According to the data, in 2023, Jianyuan Technology broke through three R&D milestones as planned, including the static ignition test of Yuanxing No.1, the joint swing hot test of control system and engine, and the recovery test of a sub-level falling into the water, which laid a solid foundation for the recovery test and flight test of Yuanxing No.1 in 2024.
In November of the same year, Jianyuan Technology completed the third round of strategic investment attraction with a financing amount of 200 million yuan. The financing was led by Jinsha Capital, followed by Dongtai of Jigang.
Yan Jia, general manager of Jinsha Capital, said that Jinsha Capital, as the core platform of the primary market investment section of Shagang Investment Company, firmly believes that China’s commercial aerospace has great room for growth, and private aerospace is an important and beneficial supplement to the development of the national aerospace industry. Yuanxingzhe-1 reduces the launch cost by using stainless steel materials and splashing and recycling at sea, which is an effective combination of technological innovation and technological inheritance. Jinsha is confident that Yuanxingzhe-1 is expected to realize the orbit and recovery of medium and large reusable rockets at the earliest in China.
Wang Shuping, managing director of Jigang Dongtai, believes that the aerospace information industry has become a new engine to drive China’s economic development, especially the low-orbit Internet has been brought into the category of new infrastructure, which has brought unprecedented opportunities to the industry. The investment in Jianyuan Technology is another major layout of the Dongtai Aerospace Industry Fund of Jigang in the commercial aerospace industry. The deep understanding and firm confidence of the Jianyuan team in the technical route of "stainless steel+liquid oxygen methane" and the in-depth thinking on the business model can truly create a launch vehicle that not only meets the current high-efficiency launch requirements of low-orbit constellation networking, but also realizes commercial value as soon as possible.
Last year, China’s private rockets were launched 13 times.
Behind Taobao’s hand-in-hand arrow technology is the vigorous development of China’s private rocket industry.
Last year, private rocket enterprises launched a total of 13 times, and in 2022, it was 5 times, a year-on-year increase of 160%; In terms of launch success rate, private enterprises have successfully entered the orbit 12 times, accounting for about 18% of China’s total launch tasks, while in 2022, this proportion is only about 7.46%. In a year’s time, the number of launches by private enterprises has not only increased significantly, but also the success rate has doubled.
At present, the recognized commercial aerospace industry chain is roughly divided into upstream manufacturing, midstream launch, downstream application and operation. According to the forecast of relevant reports, the scale of China’s commercial aerospace industry will exceed 2.3 trillion yuan this year. At the same time, with the support of a series of policies, China’s commercial aerospace industry is growing rapidly. In terms of the number of enterprises, the number of new enterprises in China’s commercial aerospace field last year was 113,272, compared with 87,844 in 2022, an increase of 28.95%. Among them, 43% are rocket manufacturers and 35% are satellite manufacturers.
In 2024, private rocket enterprises reported good news frequently. With the successful launch of Gravity-1 rocket in January this year, Oriental Space has created a number of records such as the world’s largest solid launch vehicle. At present, the scheme design of recoverable liquid oxygen kerosene rocket has begun, and it is expected to fly for the first time in 2025.
Another representative enterprise, Blue Arrow Aerospace, is developing a reusable vertical take-off and landing recovery verification rocket. According to reports, the first stage of this rocket can be reused for 20 times. In the future, the launch cost of this reusable rocket will reach about 20,000 yuan per kilogram. Compared with the current domestic private rockets, the launch price will be about 80,000 to 110,000 yuan per kilogram. Greatly reduced.
The reporter noticed that there is a common birthplace behind the launch of high-frequency commercial launch vehicles-"Rocket Street" in Beijing Yizhuang Economic and Technological Development Zone.
China’s private rocket flew with all arrows for the first time, successfully launched into orbit for the first time, sent commercial networking satellites into a 500-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit for the first time, launched multiple satellites with one arrow for the first time, and successfully launched continuously for the first time … The first breakthroughs of China’s private rockets were all born in Yizhuang, from which commercial space flight is accelerating to the universe.
At present, more than 75% of the country’s private rocket development enterprises have landed here, and there are 8 types of commercial rockets successfully launched nationwide, of which 6 are here.
At the same time, various localities have also introduced policies to encourage the layout of the rocket track.
The reporter learned that at present, Hainan, Anhui, Shaanxi, Shanghai, Beijing and other places have introduced policies to encourage the formation of commercial aerospace industry clusters. Among them, in order to accelerate the formation of new commercial aerospace productivity, Beijing has established a reusable rocket technology innovation center to speed up the key core technology research of Xingjian, and is promoting the construction of industrial clusters such as Rocket Street and Satellite Town, and building an industrial development pattern of "south arrow and north star, two cores and multiple parks, and Tianjin-Hebei linkage".
